In April 1990, Robert Rauschenberg's exhibition ROCI-Berlin opened at the Neue Galerie im Alten Museum Berlin. Originally planned before the fall of the Wall and in consultation with Honnecker himself, Rauschenberg had undertaken several research trips to Berlin with his assistant Terry van Brunt to document the divided city. At Between Bridges we present uncut footage from a Berlin shortly after the fall of the Wall. The diaristic film reveals not only Rauschenberg's artistic research practice but also how capitalism starts to manifest itself in all transactions: from the many flea and vegetable markets to the black market for exchanging money. The historical scope of the time is palpable in every moment and every shot of the city seems to hint at its upheaval, for better or for worse.

Duration approx. 120 min
